Top five technological flaws from Hollywood movies
Hollywood movies sure spend a lot of money on research before shooting the movie to avoid any possible flaws. But no matter what they do, most of the movies have a lot of flaws, both logical and technological. In this article I am writing the top ten technological flaws you probably missed in Hollywood movies.
1. The reactor is going critical!
This one is usual in most movies which are dealing with the subject of nuclear plants or devices. You must have had people/scientists scream “The reactor is going critical, run!” in a lot of movies. Well in reality, if the reactor had gone critical, that means it has started up and is at a self sustaining mode. There is nothing to worry about this point. What they really should have screamed is, the reactor is going supercritical.
2. The microwave weapon in Batman Begins
They designed the system to vaporize the water system of an entire city and it was powerful enough. But the fact that they didn’t consider it, how humans are around 65% water. So wouldn’t the system simply vaporize us as well?
3. Magic stealth helicopters
This happens in a lot of movies. Going for a secret mission to kill all the bad guys. Park the helicopter very near to their place and walk to the building. Or standing near a cliff, suddenly the helicopter surprises everyone by appearing from nowhere. In reality like you assumed, helicopters are damn loud. It is fast, but loud. So it would surprise them when they hear the sound, not when they see it. One similar movie scene is there in the climax of the movie, Date Night.
4. Explosions and sounds in space
This is a very common flaw in space sci-fi movies. For sound to be heard you need a medium which can carry the sound waves, and the doesn’t exist in space. So even if the explosion is incredibly large, you still won’t hear a thing. Another flaw is how you can see flames eventhough the explosion is occurring in spac3e with no oxygen.
5. Radio communication between ships or between home planets without any delay
This is by far one of this easily noticeable errors movie makers do while filming. It is a common knowledge even light would take 8+ mins to reach Earth from the Sun and it is the fastest traveling entity. So radio waves too will take time to reach where you want it to. One example of this flaw is in the movie Capricorn One. In this movie an astronaut on Mars is showing having a real-time conversation with his mother back on earth. In fact any radio waves would take like 20 mins to reach Earth if it was being sent from Mars.
